Crime has fallen in Cambridgeshire, with significant drops in criminal damage, burglary and vehicle crime, Home Office figures have revealed.
Figures published in October for the 12 months to the end of June this year show total crime fell by seven per cent compared to the same period the year before, from 58,873 54,732 offences.
Robbery in particular fell dramatically, by 24 per cent, from 712 to 543 offences, while domestic burglary, vehicle crime, fraud and forgery and criminal damage, all fell by double figure percentages.
Regionally based GSL Dardan today announced that following a recent audit conducted by the National Security Inspectorate, it was confirmed that GSL Dardan is now ranked in the top 10% of companies who operate within the Security Industry Authority’s Approved Contractor Scheme.

The latest SIA conference took place on the 12 October under the banner "Commitment to Regulation". This was the second stakeholder conference of 2011 and was attended by over 150 industry delegates who were keen to add their input as the Security Industry Authority develops the blueprint for the future of regulation of the contract security industry. GSL Dardan were represented by Managing Director, Mark Duffy.

The recent riots left a shock wave across the country as the mindless and selfish acts of those involved in the original London disturbances were mirrored in other cities throughout the UK.
Fortunately, the areas where GSL Dardan operate were not affected although the company immediately developed contingency plans with regard to our first line response services.
Whilst the focus of reporting the response was understandably on the emergency services and actions of local residents in protecting their property, the role of the private security industry did not attract a great deal of coverage.
GSL Dardan security officer Mark Turner has been praised for his actions which lead to the arrest of four suspected burglars on a Great Yarmouth industrial Estate.
Mark was on his routine mobile security patrol when he noticed a male on the premises of one of GSL Dardan clients sites located on the Gapton Hall Industrial Estate in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. Mark was able to challenge the person and alert the police who attended and arrested the male. This quickly led to the police establishing that three other people were also involved and they were tracked to a near by location and also arrested.
Mark recently moved to the Great Yarmouth office after being employed from the Norwich office as a Mobile Patrol & Alarm Response officer and his actions have impressed his new colleagues. He has been employed by GSL Dardan for over 12 years.
